Brighton is a Family Name

Brighton is named after Mormon handcart pioneers William and Catherine Brighton. After establishing mining claims in the 1870’s, the Brighton family spent the summer camped out in a tent. They built the first hotel in this mountain retreat, when mining proved a failure.
