The Rich Tapestry of Peru: History, Current Culture, and Personal Story

Join Holly Wissler, intrepid Tour Leader in Peru for the past 35 years, PhD in Ethnomusicology, and filmmaker, as she takes us through a journey of rich Inca history and colorful present-day Andean culture, as well as her compelling personal story through it. Through vivid images, Holly will share her life in Peru (since 1982), from adventures leading groups on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, to living among the indigenous Quechua Q'eros people and the Amazonian Wachiperi for her doctoral research. Holly is the local expert in Peru for National Geographic, The Smithsonian Institute, Wilderness Travel, and various U.S. university study abroad programs. Her journey takes us from mountain tops to Inca cities, and finally to the unexpected and forever life-altering adoption of her deaf Peruvian son, Dante. She'll finish the evening with a song or two on the flute.
